O Canada!

My first trip outside Europe is to Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. Weather forecast had prepared me for a week of rain and moderate temperatures, but arriving here I found I had better packed a sweater less and included some sunscreen in my suitcase. Still a bit jet-lagged I went for a walk before breakfast on Sunday and seeing the lovely weather I immediately booked a trip on a whale-watching expedition. The weather was fine and the experience was worth the sunburn I got from it. On Monday the sun was hiding behind some clouds, but it was still reasonably nice weather. I went on a bus tour of the city and visited the Royal BC Museum in the afternoon. I have placed some picture on-line and more will certainly follow. Just take a look at https://picasaweb.google.com/nico.vancleemput/Victoria.

Tomorrow the conference (CanaDAM 2011) starts. Since this is the main reason for my trip to Victoria. I will be spending most of my time there for the rest of the week. I’m quite sure it will be as interesting as the previous days, but I’m not sure that there are many people who share that idea. Anyway, I’ll try to post another blog post, but I can’t promise anything.
